Houston SaberCats
Rugby Academy

Why We Do It

To create the next generation of SaberCats and USA Eagles, player development and rugby growth are at the heart of the SaberCats vision. The Houston SaberCats Academy features two defined areas – High Performance and Community.

The intent of our High Performance Academy is to create a clear development pathway from junior rugby to the professional team and beyond.

The pathway is divided by age group:

U20 (Mens)

U19 Varsity (High school)

U17 Junior Varsity (High school)

U15 (High School)

What We Do

Within the pathway, players will be coached by current Houston SaberCat players and coaches with decades of experience from around the world. Our goal is to pass on the knowledge and expertise we’ve accumulated over this time to give players the best chance to continue their development.

Areas of focus for the High Performance Academy:

  • Catch – Pass – Kick
  • Track – Tackle
  • Breakdown skills
  • Rugby intelligence
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Position Specific
